OS X install problem : "There were errors installing the software, Please try again."

Problem:

I downloaded the latest DMXIS installer for OS X, and it fails to install with the message "There were errors installing the software, Please try again."

Solution:

If you are using StuffIt Expander to unzip files downloaded from the Internet, this may be the source of the problem. Some versions of StuffIt Expander appear to have problems expanding OS X zip archives. To get round the problem, locate the DMXIS zip file you downloaded in the Finder, and select File > Open With > BOMArchiveHelper. Then double-click on the resulting .pkg file to install DMXIS.
