Springtime in North America

Dear Reader,

It’s springtime in North America, and around here at least, the pollen count went through the roof last week! This made my eyes water so badly I could barely drive for a day or two.

Allergens aren’t the only thing flying around through the air at this time of the season in North Carolina. We see a lot of basketballs sailing across our fields of vision too. That’s especially true right where we are, between three cities that are home to college basketball powerhouses. In February I was ordering brackets to mount a large screen display to a stand for tradeshows, but in March I’m hearing the word bracket applied to something else entirely. It reminds me that other sports are worthy of our attention too, if we’re looking to talk about cool lighting applications.
Peggy Swisher has the scoop on AAMI Park in Melbourne, a brand new stadium with some of the coolest architectural lighting we can recall in a long time. Read more about it here

Our next spring portfolio story is one that hails from Colorado Springs. Our friends over at Wybron put their gear in an RV and began a national tour with this demonstration of their technology. It has everything including the kitchen sink, and ---you guessed it-- a Datagate Mk2! Unlike their naval aviator cousins who had the need for speed, in the shadow of the US Air Force Academy was born an urge to merge! Read more about it here

You might say our Datagate Mk2 is coming of age. AAMI Park was controlled using four of them and the RDM feature, while the Wybron application involves merging. It makes this a great time to tell you that if you want to experience the Datagate first-hand, you don’t have to be in Canada or Australia or chase down a fast-moving RV. You need go no further than your browser, because we’ve put one up on the web for all to try out. Read more about that here

There’s other news about ENTTEC products being launched as well. We have a new kind of LED (and driver to match) and we have a new DIN-RAIL mountable interface to go from Ethernet to DMX. These products are described in detail here

Of course a few of you loyal readers caught up with the Datagate Mk2 at a trade show where ENTTEC was exhibiting recently, or you want to do so in the future, so we round up the recent past and future appearances in this article.

Now get out there and enjoy the season, and try not to sneeze too much!
