November is always a month I enjoy, but this one has been especially nice to me, and I'd be remiss if I didn't pay it forward. The month started when I got another chance to light one of my all time favorite musicians, Al Stewart. I didn't need to put any Enttec gear on the job, the Performing Arts Center in Holly Springs NC has a perfectly functional and fairly modern lighting system so there was no gap to fill with usual bag of tricks. I bring it up instead because Al's lead guitarist and opening act Dave Nachmanoff thanked me and the other people whose backstage efforts made the show come off smoothly, and played the song "Grateful". That set a tone, and I hope to continue it.

LDI Wrapup

  • We're grateful to our customers for the business they give us, but also for their feedback, which teaches us when we're going in the right direction and when a course correction is needed. (See what we've done lately with user feedback like "that product 's nice, but it would be great if you could make ...." Read about it here .)
  • We're grateful to our dealers and system integrators who come up with fantastic projects that turn heads and make practical working solutions for projects both routine and sublime. (The December issue is going to be all about those kinds of projects, so we aren't putting any into this one. It's already crowded enough. Next month will be an early issue, and probably smaller than usual due to the holidays, but that's what we'll be focusing on.)
  • Having just come back from Orlando, where we got to see and speak face to face with the lighting industry press, we're especially grateful to the bloggers, magazine editors, and educators who have taken the time to notice us and tell the world about what they saw.
  • And most of all we're grateful to be involved in such a cool industry, as LDI and the ESTA awards banquet drummed into my head last week ( View Photo gallery and a bit of a wrap-up article . )

To those of you who are in the US, Happy Thanksgiving. If you're not, I hope you won't object to my borrowing from that holiday a sense that we should occasionally spend some time acknowledging our good fortunes, and spreading the kudos around where they belong.
