Modul8 v2.6 News:
We've just received word of the release of Modul8 version 2.6 which supports the DMX USB PRO.
It has been in beta for several months and a number of interesting projects have already been completed using this version and DMX.
Please check http://www.modul8.us/ for more details.
Support for DMX USB PRO
On the one hand, this is a VJ-oriented video manipulation program with media server type interactivity.
It can handle 10 layers, play both recorded clips and stream live camera feeds, and now that it can use DMX input to guide
these abilities in the direction the user wishes, it really can take its place as a useful tool for projection designers of Live Entertainment.
This was the conclusion that Robb Pope seemed to reach in his presentation at the Live Design Projections Master Class in Orlando on November 20,
and many of the class attendees agreed. When Moderator Bob Bonniol held up an Enttec DMX USB PRO and said that support for this widget meant they
had really turned the corner, (or words to that effect) that was a strong indicator that GarageCube Software is on the right track here.
But then we looked into the way users are employing the DMX capabilities of the program and discovered there's another important implication.
Some are using DMX input to make it a lighting desk controlled media server, but others are doing DMX output to control their lights based on custom
coded scripts which analyze the video or the audio they are playing back in a live environment.
Whichever way appeals to you, input or output of DMX, Modul8 adds a powerful new option to the list of OSX-based programs out there which DMX USB PRO users can employ.
