Playback Wing Firmware 1.4

This new firmware introduces a great improvement in the way the Playback Wing handles the Art-Net mode output and shifting between pages.

Old way:

All fader levels were forced upon the channels they correspond to in a new page on entering that page.

New way:

You can change pages and nothing will happen to any levels until you move the faders in such a way that they match the levels of their corresponding channels. Once matched, the fader takes over control of that channel. If you don't move the fader in question, whatever the level for each channel on that page is, it will keep that level when you enter or leave the page, or even if you nudge the slider a bit without bringing it to the same position it was in when it last had affect on that channel.

Significance:

This is very significant for users wanting to control GrandMA on PC or GrandMA consoles from the wing. Also the Hippotizer users who opt for Art-Net instead of MIDIwing use can benefit from this change. We also foresee the wing being used with E-Streamers to master individual shows, and that can be a much more flexible arrangement thanks to Firmware 1.4's new functionality.

Nothing else has changes in this FW version, so you can skip it if you don't want or need this behaviour, or you have other wings than the Playback.

Download & Update :

To download the Firmware and place it on your wing, start by clicking here, and then follow the directions in your User Manual for Firmware Updates. (One note about that procedure--it has been shown that a crossover cable between computer and wing is not the best way. It's better to use a switch and two straight cables, but nothing else on the network besides your wing and computer to avoid delays and errors caused by background noise.)
