NEW OFFICE - Planning for the Future
Enttec has taken steps in 2008 to ensure that growth for the next several years will be unencumbered by physical space limits or supply chain issues.
The first of these steps was the move to our new facility in Knoxfied, early in the year. It includes a much larger electronics assembly area, more storage,
a bigger general office and R&D space and an area we plan to fit out as a showroom eventually. This two level space also includes a break area for our team,
housing for our own servers, and much more. We're pleased with the way it turned out, our employees seem happier in the new location now that things are settling in,
and it gives us a lot of room to grow into.
Bigger and Faster
The next phase is taking place in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2008, and it includes a retooling of our assembly lines to feature more in-house automated manufacturing.
What we used to have to do by hand for small quantities can now be done by fairly state-of-the-art robotics, but we can control the timing, the quantity, the quality, and much more.
This gives us more say in how we adapt to meet changing stock conditions and how we keep production deadlines from being missed when our suppliers get backed up.
In an upcoming newsletter edition we'll go into greater depth about these improvements.
Greener Footprint
All this efficiency and increased throughput is fine as far it goes, but how will the new machinery and techniques affect the environment? We're glad you asked.
From a carbon footprint perspective, it actually makes more sense the way we're starting to do it now than it did before. We believe that many of our customers care about things like this,
so we'll go ahead and boast. The new oven we use to "bake" components onto our circuit boards is plugged into our electrical supply mains,
and while it does take up its fair share of energy, our electric utility is a Green Provider, using only renewable and non-carbon-based energy sources. Maybe you can
do more by driving a fuel-efficient car than you can by buying Enttec's Datagate, but we all have to do what we can. There's no point in closing the datagate after the horse has left the barn, is there?
